During the 9th -10th of May, Edinburgh Angling Centre proudly hosted the LOOP May Weekend and what a fantastic weekend it was! Representatives from LOOP, including Gordon Armstrong, Ali Parkin, David Murray, Steve Kelly and Jim Coates, took over both the shop floor and our casting pond to showcase the very latest innovations and top performing gear from the brand.
One of the biggest highlights for customers throughout the weekend was the arrival of the brand-new LOOP Trak rods, which had only recently landed at Edinburgh Angling Centre. Visitors had the unique opportunity not only to test the rods for themselves, but also to meet one of the key figures behind their development, Gordon Armstrong, making the experience even more special.
The weekend was packed with great conversations, plenty of casting action, and a real buzz around the pond. But it wasn’t just fly lines being cast, our charity raffle proved hugely popular too, attracting an incredible 300 entries over the course of the weekend. LOOP generosity donated a Custom Classic Reel (or Custom Opti Reel) as the top prize, with a Loop Onka 2.0 jacket for the runner up. We’re delighted to say that all proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the TweedStart Foundation, helping introduce young people to the world of fishing.
The winner of the Raffle was: Douglas Bow. The runner up prize was awarded to: Michael Bolton
Alongside the raffle, we also hosted a casting competition, which drew a host of competitive anglers eager to test their skills. After plenty of impressive performances across both the Saturday and Sunday - We had ourselves some winners! There was an Adult category and a Junior category and the Winners were the following:
- Adult day 1 - Steph Campbell
- Adult day 2 - Fraser Thompson
- Junior day 1 - Brodie Baxter
- Junior day 2 - Finlay Thompson
