Over our Spring 2026 Open Weekend, Fly Tyers’ Row will once again take centre stage - and this year it’s bigger than ever.
With our largest lineup of tyers to date, the whole section will be packed with talent, creativity and inspiration across the entire weekend.
There truly is something for everyone at Fly Tyers’ Row. Visitors will have the chance to watch some of the most respected names in fly tying in action, getting a close-up look at a wide range of techniques, materials and patterns.
For experienced anglers, Fly Tyers’ Row offers the chance to refine techniques, discover the latest materials and innovations, and chat fishing with some of the best in the business.
If you’ve never tied a fly before - or if your little ones fancy giving it a go - this is the perfect opportunity to get started.
Andrew Flitcroft – LOOP
Andrew has a wealth of angling knowledge, particularly on the "King of Fish" Atlantic Salmon. He’s fished for salmon in the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Russia and British Columbia.
He is also a former England loch-style international trout angler and destination angler. Andrew is leading an exciting new digital magazine for LOOP launching in 2026 - check out the interview HERE.
Paul Clydesdale – Vision Fly Fishing
Paul started fly fishing at 11, tying flies almost immediately. From rainbow trout to salmon on Ayrshire spate rivers, his passion grew into global adventures - including Mexico, Hawaii, Christmas Island and the Bahamas.
Pike fly fishing is now a major focus. He works alongside Fulling Mill and his Clydesdale Range is available HERE.
Allan Liddle – Fly Fishing & Fly Tying
Based in Morayshire, GAIA qualified instructor Allan Liddle has contributed to Fly Fishing & Fly Tying Magazine since 2001. He specialises in wild trout from wild places across Scotland.
Allan has a special passion for dry fly fishing, calling the visual take “the most exciting and satisfying aspect of the sport.”
Donald Stewart – Veniard
Donald has been tying flies for well over 40 years. In his early years he mainly fished the Water of Leith in Edinburgh before finding his way to The River Clyde at 16 years old, a river he has fished and loved ever since.
Coming west was a revelation to his tying and he quickly learned the Clyde Style way of tying from other anglers on the banks of the river. If you're interested in Clyde Style river patterns, Donald is the man to speak to.
Ed Ford – Veniard
Ed has many childhood memories of fishing with friends and family over the years but in 2006 he was introduced to the world of fly fishing by his older brother and that took over. His passion for tying flies started soon afterwards and, being self-taught, he continues to learn the art of wrapping fur and feather onto a hook to tempt the fish of a lifetime.
Alex Rook – Veniard
Alex is a renowned destination fly fisherman who is willing to travel the world in pursuit of his target species. Over the years he has racked up an amazing list of trophy catches including monster pike, massive perch, wells catfish, striped bass, European sea bass, giant peacock bass, vampire fish, roosterfish, giant trevally, arapaima and big bull redfish to name only a few.
John Hood – Veniard
John is a superb fly tyer in his own right but at the open weekends, his bench is set up for direct lessons aimed at beginners. Hundreds of youngsters and novice fly tyers have tied some of their first flies with John's guidance and he's always a welcome guest at the show.
Darryl Mooney – Partridge of Redditch
Darryl is the UK and Ireland Sales Director for Partridge of Redditch and has been tying for over 36 years. He grew up fishing for wild brownies on his local River Lagan in Northern Ireland and this remains his passion to this day.
Stephen Smalley – Partridge of Redditch
He has been competing for several years, starting off fly fishing in local competitions before progressing to national competitions with the highlight representing England. Stephen is also a member the successful competition team Ospreys as well as an ambassador for Vision Fly fishing UK.
Tim Wood – Partridge of Redditch
Tim is one of the finest trout fly tyers in the business and has won multiple tying competitions. His passion is small river flies and grayling nymphs. He's a much sought after guest and has tied at the British Fly Fair, Irish Fly Fairs, Clononav Open Days and numerous shows and clubs across the country. He's a brand ambassador for Guideline, Partridge of Redditch and Veniard.
As well as his local waters he's been lucky enough to fish in Iceland, Sweden and Bosnia. Bosnia has become favourite destination, chasing huge grayling.
