If you have ever wanted to try fly fishing or sharpen your casting technique, the GAC 2025 Autumn Open Weekend is the perfect opportunity. Across the three-day event, we are offering free fly casting lessons with none other than Guideline’s SGAIC Instructor John Milne. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to fine-tune your cast, this is your chance to learn from one of Scotland’s most respected instructors.
Why Take a Casting Lesson?
Fly casting is an art as much as a skill. Every angler starts as a novice, and even the most experienced casters benefit from a little expert guidance. Learning how to handle a fly rod correctly makes your fishing more enjoyable, efficient, and rewarding.
That is where qualified instructors like John Milne make all the difference. With years of teaching and guiding experience, John knows how to make casting approachable and enjoyable, offering tips that will stay with you for life.
What to Expect at the Casting Pool
Representing Guideline, John will be at our casting pool throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to:
- Try out a selection of Guideline rods and lines.
- Receive free one-to-one taster lessons.
- Ask for casting advice tailored to your experience level.
- Pick up valuable tricks and techniques to improve your fishing.
Put Your Skills to the Test
Feeling confident after your lesson? Take part in our Casting Competition, also hosted by John Milne. Challenge yourself against other anglers, climb the leaderboard, and you could win one of our daily prizes. Top the overall leaderboard and you might even walk away with a brand new rod.
