Today we are checking out a variant on Hutch's Pennel tied by Steve Cullen. The Hutch's Pennel was originally created by Orcadian Angler, Ian Hutcheon. This variant that Steve is tying uses dyed pheasant on the tail plus a splash of white deer hair on the head of the fly. These give this one an attractive boost and opening up colour variations for you to try yourselves. Ideal for use on reservoirs and Steve explains that he fishes it as a top dropper on the back end. Get a few of these tied up and ready for your next session!
