Henry Gilbey's Ultimate Guide to Bass Fishing - OnTheHookFishing https://ift.tt/8G47hbN

We are back checking out another instalment of OnTheHookFishing, this time featuring Mr. Henry Gilbey of Savage Gear! He's here to explain that fishing for Bass in the UK doesn't need to break the bank and provides key information on what Rod, Reel and tackle you'll need to begin your new obsession!

There are many different types of lure rods across a variety of brands, so to keep it simple, Henry recommends any rods 8ft5 to 9ft5 with a casting weight of 10-30g. The reason for this is down to the lures you'll be using, because many won't exceed 35g and its also critical that you can work smaller lures as well.

Keeping it simple with the reel, Henry recommends a fixed spool reel, find something that compliments the rod you have, ideally look at ratings between 2500 and 3500. In Henry's own words "If it feels good to you, it's going to feel good when you're fishing". These small reels still allow you to cast your heavier lures out, but also allow you to manage all the smaller lures you'll be using in the shallows!

Now, lures are a bit of an obsession for some anglers, especially with the vast variety available, but you don't need that many to target Bass. Henry has two lure boxes and that's all he takes because he knows the lures contained in those boxes, all work for him. He recommends having a couple long casting Topwater lures, some shallow running hard lures, a handful of soft plastics for a variety of different rigs, some deep sinking siwimbaits and a few metal lures.

Now that you have an idea for the kit, keep watching the video below to get some insight on the kit you need to wear, some luggage options as well as some insight into how Henry fishes with braid, how he casts his lures out and weather and sea condition knowledge that will help you catch Bass!
