Today we are checking out the Perfect Pinfry, tied by Steve Cullen. The Pinfry is a fantastic pattern for when the Trout are feeding on Fry. A lot of anglers will argue that this is generally the most challenging time, because every method they'll try will be met with a blank. However, Steve Cullen argues that most anglers have it wrong, just cast the Pinfry out and let it hang, the fish will find it and certainly take it. Using a Dry won't yield results and pulling a Blob or Booby might induce a follow, but takes will be rare. The Pinfry is a simple fly in terms of materials, but don't let its simplicity fool you, you'll be catching in no time if you have a few of these ready in your fly box.
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie the Perfect Pinfry, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
