Today we are checking out a competition fly called the Cat Sparkler, tied by Steve Cullen. The Cat Sparkler is a an excellent fly for when the Trout are feeding on Fry. As Steve explains in his video, the first time he spotted this fly was during a competition final, where the fish weren't playing ball, but an angler named Julian Hubbard was catching and this was the pattern he was using. However, after reading into it, Steve realised that this pattern was created by a well-known Competition Angler named Rob Edmunds. This pattern can be tied on either a single hook or if the fishery you are planning to visit allows it, a double hook.
All of the materials needed to tie this fly are available from Glasgow Angling Centre as listed below, but as always, if you need any help finding materials or substitutes then we'll be happy to help. Time to tie The Cat Sparkler, with the guidance of Steve Cullen.
